Also saw this just today.. White 15-21 fellblade (req. 8)

Max r8 swords even aint anything special and are known still drop.

Also if u didnt notice i allready posted this few days ago

Also for question before if u get max dmg r8 drop post screen with it

Would be great if it was still on ground before u picked it up on the image :d

Decided run abit in cantha aswell in few areas, and after ~60 chests got this.

Just like you Pleikki, I just dropped a Q8 12 E Purple Paper Lantern

This happened while Chestrunning in Normal Mode from Maatu's Keep to Tanglewood Crops.

I got a screenshot of the drop if you'd like. It's not perfect anyways, but it does drop indeed.

why do you all post those blue/white req7/8's or any gold req8's that are like 10points away from max?

Those weapons don't have to do a lot with this topic imo.... because:
If a weapon can drop with req8 blue it doesnt mean that it can drop req8 gold too...

for example while farming @ Cho's Estate HM i had like 4 or 5 req8/15 blue Bladed Shields.... but i never got any gold (no matter what req)...

During my 20k chests in last few years i didnt even get 1 req8 gold max from a HM chest so im pretty sure HM chests dont drop any req8's...
I had a lot of req7/8 purples from nm canthan chests... but no gold.
I had like 3 or 4 req8 gold max items before HM was introduced...

Ive ran around. uhm. 1500 chests there in hardmode, got maybe 2-3 papers & jugs 0 lanterns

I'm not sure if you're only talking about specific skins or more generally, but I must repeat this top most important piece of knowledge for everyone researching on low req items:

If a weapon class can drop with a certain Base Stat AND Requirement as a white or blue it can also drop with those exact same Base Stat+Requirement combination as a purple or gold.

Note: This rule is not about SKIN but weapon class (Sword/Shield/Staff/Axe/etc...)

Note2: Whites/Blues and Purples/Golds with exact stat+req combinations may require different drop sources (different level).

Exception: The only exception is the very low level items which simply cannot drop as purples or golds at all, for example a 10-13 (req.2) sword is almost surely too low to drop as a gold at all. But since we're mostly interested in req.6-8 items it shouldn't matter.

Conclusion: Screenshotting a white/blue drop of a given BASE_STATS+REQ combination is enough of a proof that a gold version CAN technically still drop aswell. (except very low level items)

Just don't post lots of stuff that are worse than what's already well known and confirmed.

It's all about the level. Level of the items themselves, which is based on the level of the drop source but for golds it gets increased by a fixed +4 modifier (there's also at least one random +increase modifier)

Find HM Mobs with level as low as possible if you want the best chances for interesting low req golds.

But you said if there and there drop req8 white or blue items they can also drop as a gold r8... and thats wrong imo. Because like you said it depends on the level.... and white/blue req8's drop nearly everywhere, but golds only from foes with a special level (imo 17-20 @cantha, tyria.... elona/eotn even with higher levels)...

And if I'm not totally wrong all enemys @ Cho's HM are lvl 22+.... and only because they drop white/blue req8's that doesnt mean that they can drop gold req8's too =)

Or better said... that's what i will always think as long as nobody can prove the opposite (with a screenshot). =)

I'd ofc try to prove my statement too but It's hard to find any evidence that items CAN'T drop^^

Please read carefully all what I posted in this thread because you clearly got something wrong. I didn't say anywhere anything that would imply they can drop gold req8s. I said clearly that the fact something drops for example a white max req8 axe it means that a gold max req8 axe is still a possible drop, somewhere in the game.
I even added note it would most likely be a different (lower) level mob or chest needed for that gold drop.

Hi just had a r7 celestial longbow drop whilst farming vermin its a 14-25 dam +15% -10armor while attacking

i was looking on the requirement thread and that seems to be the max dam a r7 bow will drop now. Is this the case?

And the problem is you won't find any foes with a level lower than 23 @ HM Shing Jea, do you?

That's why i'd like to see a screenshot of a gold max r8 @ Shing Jea...

Just to clarify then R7 bows still drop max 15-28, or if they dont drop, anything that isnt max is worthless. I.e r8 bows 15-28 is the lowest u can go and have max damage.

So its only shields that are can have a max reduction and still be collectable/valuable i.e r7 15arm.

sorry to be a pain just new to this r7/r8 stuff even though ive had Gw for 5yrs

well... nonmax crystallines, swamps, and those new skins like silverwing, dryad, and so on can be nonmax and are still worth something.
also some nonmax low req swords/axes with +5nrg could be worth something if the skin is good...

Also req7 "good damage mod" 18-35 Hammers (seen a req7 15^50 18-35 Celestial one in Spamadan 2 or 3 weeks ago btw), 6-27 axes, etc.

But 14-25 is way off :/
